The Volunteer Firemen team of Balcon al Mar was founded in 1981 to protect our urbanisation
from fires; Balcon al Mar is a part of the Javea conurbation. From the start of the team, in over 20 years we have attended 138 fires of which 20 were classed as large fires. This is done in cooperation with the local Civil Protection organisation and the Marina Alta region professional Fire Services. The Javea town-hall quickly appreciated the support of the B.A.M. volunteers and asked us not only to assist with forest fires but also with Fiestas/fireworks displays and fire-watch duties with particular emphasis on the Granadella area. |

Certificates of appreciation from the VALENCIA Community, Province of ALICANTE, Town-hall
JAVEA and local rotary clubs have been received and are kept in the Fire
station. Financing of equipment and clothing etc. is done by I.S.V.H. (Residents Association). Extra financing is generated through gifts and fund-raising events. |
